Question:
My neighbour is carrying out an extension to their property and has dropped a note into my door to say that they are knocking the boundary wall and will rebuild it in due course. Do I have any say in this?

Answer:
It would come down to who owns the wall. If the wall was built by your neighbour at their cost, on their property, it is their wall however if it is a shared wall it is known as a party party wall and you have a say in what should happen. If this is a party party wall, your neighbor should be seeking your permission to knock or alter the wall in any way. You should be seeking to look at their plans for the wall and get an agreement to rebuild the wall and perhaps an indemnity against any damage caused. You should have a look at your title deeds to ascertain whether the wall is a party party wall or not.
